March 6th, our troop cleaned the portion of 521 highway from Walnut Creek to a church near Harris Teeter. We also filled up, 54 total trash bags on the highway! We cleaned up for about 3 hours and a large margin of the highway looked cleaner than it was before. We do the same portion of the road every time, so the newer scouts will get familiar with this portion of the highway, and in about 3 months the new scouts will help us with the clean-up! Coming to these service projects gives scouts 3 to 4 service hours needed to rank-up and it helps the environment looking cleaner. We do 4 roadside clean-ups a year, so make sure to come the next one to help out!
Troop 275 completed another successful summer camp this past June at Camp Raven Knob. 16 Scouts and 5 Leaders attended the week of camp. The Scouts earned over 80 merit badges and participated in bonfires, a frog hunt, fishing contest and a hike to the top of the Knob.
Thanks to every one who helped out with Scouting for Food. We collected over 8,600 pounds of goods for the Belair United Methodist Church’s food bank. Troop and Pack 275 should be very proud of this contribution and service.
Winterplace called today to let us know that they have closed Snow Tubing for the rest of the season due to the warm weather. For everyone that has already paid, the easiest thing to do is apply a credit to each Scouts account. However, if you want a refund please let me know and we will make those arrangements.
Remember, our Scout Skills campout will start this Friday, December 1st at 5:00 through Sunday December 3rd about 11:00.
All scouts are encouraged to participate.
